You can't compose on a computer without software. For me, the fun (and sometimes not so fun part) is making the software. Too often I spend too much time making the software and not enough time using it to compose, but I suppose the software itself can be an impressive creation.

So far the choices are:

• Max/MSP software (audio/video)
• Processing applets
• Cosy, the Compact Sequencing Syntax
• Javascript software (runs in your browser)
